Ron
I have not seen it as yet, either. However, if you find a location for it
please let me know where. We are also trying to locate the new version here
in the west.
Thanks
Dave

You *are* using an external antenna, right?
PC's make all kinds of RF. I have a Gateway 486-33 at home,
and I can't have the HT with the rubber duck within 5
feet of the thing.
When I connect my HT to my Ringo Ranger II on the roof, the noise
goes away. In fact, I can place the HT on top of the PC chassis,
and it works fine.

One of the things I have found that really helps with this problem is....
wait for it. Disconnect your mouse. Don't believe me? Well try it. I found
that it made tons of difference to my wx sat rx. I must try disconnecting
my printer as well.

Well, John,
I had to disconnect the mouse to connect the TNC to the computer.
So that doesn't appear to be the problem. And the printer is turned off
for now. Any other ideas?

A friend has his Kenwood scanning 3 digital freqs (using Pactor, and a PK-
232 MBX), on two bands. when someone connects with him, his rig stops
scanning, and stays on that freq until he starts it again. Does anyone
know how to make this rig continue scanning on its own?

I've never build any uhf circuits but what do you need but a tv tuner,
prescaler, phase comparator, mixer and an amplifier. I've seen 2GHz
prescalers and 20 watt 400-500MHz amplifiers in Newark. Minicircuits
sells mixers. Perhaps designing the matching networks is difficult. If
someone has the equipment to analyse at these frequencies I can get the
parts.

Well, yes and no,
The antenna is approximately 10 feet away. That may be the problem.
I'll try getting the antenna set up outside and see what results.
More to follow.

Then why was a communications emergency declared by the FCC for a
segment of 80M during the South's floods late last week? Who was
passing traffic on 80? NTS? RACES? ARES?
